March 2025 | Digitalization with KIT

Kögel Intelligent Trailer (KIT)

Smarter transportation:
Kögel Trailer introduces the digital vehicle file together with customer GLX Logistik AG .

GLX Logistik AG from Bavaria is driving forward the digitalization of its trailer fleet and is investing 50 times in Kögel trailers with intelligent technology. The name says it all. KIT. - Kögel Intelligent Trailer means: digital departure control and complete live documentation ex works. Important documents such as load securing certificates can be stored directly in the KIT and can therefore be carried digitally, independently of paper documentation.

Kögel KIT is a web-based app that uses an access code to store all of a trailer's data as a digital vehicle file. The app is accessed via a QR code on the trailer.

Workshop visits can be significantly accelerated in the event of maintenance, as the workshop has immediate access to the digital vehicle file via the QR code. This gives them a comprehensive overview of the trailer's condition and history at all times, making maintenance processes more efficient. These advantages are even convincing the cost-cutters from Garching: GLX Logistik AG relies on state-of-the-art technologies - with a clear goal: to save time, increase transparency and improve safety, thereby optimizing costs in the long term.

  • Safety-Roof-Airbag against ice formation for more safety in winter

  • Additional reversing lights for better visibility and protection when maneuvering

  • Lift axle to reduce wear and fuel consumption

  • Kögel Intelligent Trailer (KIT) technology for intelligent vehicle monitoring

  • and much more...

With this equipment, we ensure that our team can carry out their daily tasks reliably, comfortably and safely - and at the same time meet our customers' requirements to the highest standard.

September 2024 | eActros Roadshow

a visit to the headquarters in Garching

Colleagues at the headquarters in Garching had the opportunity to experience the eActros up close on July 10. This visit not only offered insights into modern e-mobility, but also the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the practical issues surrounding the use of fully electric trucks.

Regardless of the drive technology, every investment in a commercial vehicle must pay off for transport companies on a day-to-day basis. There are a whole range of questions that need to be clarified, especially with fully electric trucks such as the eActros:

  • Routes of use: On which routes can I use e-vehicles sensibly?
  • Charging infrastructure: How is the charging infrastructure designed?
  • Structural measures: What structural measures and investments should I expect for depot charging?

E-mobility is more than just a new drive system - it requires a holistic approach and advice in order to be successfully and efficiently integrated into everyday transportation.

August 2024 | Sustainability on the move

Already saved 7.5 tons of CO²

Knorr-Bremse has been using an e-truck for factory transportation in Munich for two years. The operation is running smoothly and CO2-neutral.

In order to make internal logistics more efficient, cheaper and more sustainable, GLX, in cooperation with Knorr-Bremse, put an e-truck into operation in August 2022, which has been traveling daily between the warehouse, headquarters and the six locations ever since.

The conclusion after two years is clear: the changeover went smoothly, operations are reliable, trouble-free and, above all, CO2-neutral. Transport efficiency has more than doubled compared to diesel trucks.

Everyone involved at GLX and Knorr-Bremse is satisfied: "Initial concerns vanished into thin air within the first few months. Not only the driver is happy about the quiet e-truck, but also the colleagues on campus," says Frank Berkemeier, Head of Industrial Engineering & General Services Munich. And the environment also benefits: The e-truck has already driven around 25,000 kilometers and saved almost 7.5 tons of CO2 in the process.

March 2024 | Sustainable e-mobility

Our electric car with its own charging station

With our electric car and our own electric charging station, we are taking a big step towards sustainable mobility. Thanks to the electric drive, we not only reduce our CO2 emissions, but also save money through lower operating costs compared to a conventional combustion engine.

By installing our own charging station, we have the flexibility to charge our electric vehicle at any time and without long waiting times.

We also benefit from the convenience of being able to charge at home or at work without having to rely on public charging stations. This not only saves time, but also offers a reliable charging option that is tailored specifically to our needs.

Our electric car and our own e-charging station are an important contribution to protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. We are setting an example for the future of mobility and showing that emission-free driving can be simple and practical

January 2024 | AdBlue company filling station

at the Wallwitz site (Saxony-Anhalt)

The pilot project was successfully implemented at the Wallwitz site in Saxony-Anhalt with our own AdBlue filling station.

This has a number of advantages:

  • 24-hour availability
  • More effective use of personnel and machine operating times
  • Gentle on materials
  • No waiting times
  • Uncomplicated refueling
  • Simple management thanks to digital counter
  • Inexpensive procurement

AdBlue is a liquid urea solution and is injected upstream of a special catalytic converter in vehicles with SCR systems to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. There it reacts with the pollutants and converts them almost completely into water vapor and harmless nitrogen.

Changes to the truck toll

CO2 surcharge and new toll tariffs from 01.12.2023

You will no doubt have read it in the press. Despite massive protests from the major industry associations and the DSLV, the German government is sticking to the toll increase on December 1, 2023.

In the future, the "traffic-related carbon dioxide emissions" will be added to the existing truck toll rates with an amount of 200.00 euros / ton of CO2. Hence the term CO2 toll adjustment. This massive increase means that the toll rate will almost double from the previous 19.00 cents/km to 34.8 cents/km in future. In total, the German government expects additional revenue of 7.62 billion euros per year.

For you, this also means that your toll charges will in fact almost double.

Please understand that we have to pass these government-imposed costs on to you. As usual, we will show the toll costs separately in your invoices. In individual cases, we have included the previous toll costs in your freight costs.

For a better overview, you can see the current and planned toll rates in cents per km in the table below. The toll rates are based on

- the truck emission class (now also with CO2 classes for EURO6)

- the technically permissible total weight of the truck

- the number of axles

The table below shows an excerpt of the classic long-distance trucks which we usually use in international traffic.

Truck more than 18 tons total weight / 5 axles.

Emission class:Toll rates until 30.11.2023Toll rates from 01.12.2023Increase in %

June | YellowFox Telematics

More time for the essentials

We have entered into a cooperation with YellowFox as a partner to drive forward our digital fleet management and increase the quality of scheduling. The ability to call up and record a lot of data in real time, such as fuel consumption, FMS key figures and the location history of the vehicles used, makes scheduling more transparent and efficient. Digitalization reduces paper consumption enormously and saves resources. With a comprehensive maintenance database, important dates for maintenance, service and repairs can be proactively managed with timely information, which in turn reduces fuel and maintenance costs and prevents the risk of major damage.
